- Develop lasting connections with mentors/advocates that you can turn to beyond the job hunt or application process. Nourish these connections just like any other relationship, as some will last long into your careers. Identify these individuals early on and seek their guidance! Share with them your trajectory, hopes, goals, as well as vulnerabilities.
- The interview process should be a two-way street. Treat it like a negotiation between you and the organization. Research the organization and ask the hard questions. Are your values aligned?
- Know your self-worth. Be honest, but also take stock of your accomplishments and unique competencies. Highlight your strengths and how your skill set is best suited for the position and organization you are going after. Tell your story. Have a narrative trajectory that clearly details how past roles and experiences build on each other towards a goal.
