Series Overview
In February 2021, BAEMP launched a new program series that aims to create spaces for public dialogue around timely topics impacting equity, accessibility, and inclusion within the museum field. Topics will be introduced via Instagram Live early in the month to be followed by a public forum for dialogue via Zoom later in the month. The aim of these programs will be to facilitate important conversations that center the experiences of museum staff and advocate for necessary shifts towards a more equitable industry.

February Program: Frontline Worker’s Experience During COVID-19
To kick off this program series, BAEMP Programming Committee Chair Nia McAllister and Programming Committee member Erin Schilling, facilitated a public forum to center the experiences of frontline workers during Covid-19. The event gathered museum professionals from the Bay Area and beyond, and prompted important discussions on the topics of museum reopening plans, issues of hazard pay, and the challenges frontline workers’ experience when expressing concerns of physical and mental safety at their institutions. The event served as an impactful gathering space to find solidarity between museum workers and for sharing resources to support frontline workers as museums continue to move forward with reopening. Thank you to all participants for contributing to this important and necessary dialogue!
