Marketing Committee Chair
On a field trip to the Legion of Honor in the eighth grade, Sarah read each label and examined each art work while the other students zoomed through the galleries. She knew she'd been bitten by the museum bug when the bus almost left without her because she was infatuated with museum and didn't want to leave!
Later, in college, Sarah was searching for a career that allowed her to combine her interests of education, art history, art practice, interior design, and construction. She found just that in an exhibition internship at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History. After writing exhibit labels, hanging artwork, and painting gallery walls, a place on visitor services team opened up. Her background in customer service and retail led her to the bay area for positions in sales, membership, and guest services.
Staying true to her small museum roots, she enjoys work that is not restricted to one department. Past roles have been in non-profit administration, conference planning, public programs, exhibition design, facility rentals, event logistics, membership, development, and marketing.
From 2015-2017, Sarah also played a role in the national EMP movement by serving on the National Emerging Museum Professional Network's Executive Committee and American Alliance of Museums Taskforce.
